The Reference Value
In order to relate the objects contained in the universe to each other and to the universe as a whole, a reference value is required. This reference value is time-dependent, i.e. it increases over the lifetime of the universe.
The reference value corresponds to the current radius of the universe.
The starting point is the Big Bang as the manifestation of the properties of Planck units, at which point physical time begins to exist.
One consequence is the discrete universe.
